About

Bay Street executive. Film producer. Yogi. For this client, we created a sophisticated space that is as multi-faceted as he is. This Renaissance man works hard and plays hard, and needed a space to entertain in, read in, watch films in, and come home to after travelling the world.

We started with a clean and modern palette that balanced minimalist and masculine aesthetics. Cool, neutral tones were chosen for the flooring, accented by the black high-gloss kitchen cabinetry, smooth white marble counters, and stainless steel appliances.

The low-back sofa, dining chairs, and armchairs were selected to maximize flow and keep the open-concept dining-living area airy, making the space more conducive for entertaining. Here and there, we incorporated quirky artistic elements to reflect the client’s appreciation for the arts, as well as modern features including a Scandinavian-designed sofa and an over-arching corner lamp.

Leaning into the client’s love of nature, we added warm and rustic elements throughout the space. This included plants, a live-edge acacia wood dining table, a coffee table made of driftwood found in the Pacific Ocean, and a designer TV sideboard made of solid walnut.

Juxtaposition and balance were essential in this design. In the master bedroom, the wood-panelled wall, natural fibre lamp, and walnut mirror were chosen to contrast the ultra-modern Italian-designed bed with clear acrylic legs and high gloss floating night table. Now, it’s a space that perfectly complements its resident.
